Aeon Big eyes five per ct increase in sales revenue this year
SEREMBAN: Aeon Big (M) Sdn Bhd (Aeon BiG), one of Malaysia’s leading hypermarket chains, is targeting a four to five per cent increase in sales this year compared to the more than RM1 billion achieved last year.
Its managing director Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed said he is optimistic that the target will be achieved through customers’ support for the hypermarket.
“We also aim to open two more outlets this year, making it a total of 24 Aeon BiG branches nationwide.
“Next year we expect at least three (more) branches, especially in states where there is none, but it is still under discussion,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of its 22nd store here during the weekend.
The ceremony was officiated by the senior political secretary to the prime minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin; also present was the chairman of Aeon Co (M) Bhd Datuk Iskandar Sarudin.
Sheikh Farouk said the opening of the store, which is billed as Aeon BiG Palm Mall, today represented a significant milestone as it is the first store expansion for the retailer since 2020 and marked a successful return to Negeri Sembilan after a hiatus of nine years.
“I was delighted with the new store opening, which embodies Aeon BiG’s commitment to providing a premium shopping experience at affordable prices and catering to the diverse needs of its customers. It is a new territory for us in recent times, underscoring our dedication to serving communities across Malaysia,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the new store would bring a positive impact on the local retail scene, the Seremban economy and its surrounding areas.
In conjunction with the grand opening, the store will be offering three days of special sales for its top-selling products from April 5 to 7. In addition, Aeon members will receive a special gift when they shop while members who use the Aeon Member Plus Visa Card or Aeon Wallet will receive 9x points for all transactions.
Customers can also look forward to interactive games where they can win exciting
prizes, such as branded appliances and Aeon BiG cards worth up to RM100, with guaranteed 50 daily winners up to April 11th.
At the ceremony, Aeon BiG also extended its support to the local community by handing over donations to 60 underprivileged families in the form of Aeon BiG gift cards, for their preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration. The corporate social responsibility event was done in collaboration with the charitable organisation, Empire Project.
