Ex-PSB members joining PDP reflects effectiveness of GPS govt initiatives, says Fazzrudin

The move by leaders and members of now-dissolved Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) to join Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) reflects the effectiveness of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s initiatives, says Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

The Chief Political Secretary to the Premier said this was also a reflection of the confidence the former PSB leaders had in the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“So maybe they have seen that the GPS government’s initiatives and policies really benefit the people. Maybe that is why they give their support to the GPS government.

“And if it’s true, we expect them to go to the field to explain to the community how good the GPS government initiatives are, starting with those three elected representatives,” he told reporters when met after attending the launching of the Semarak Syawal Agro Madani programme at Medan Niaga Satok here yesterday.

Fazzrudin, who is Tupong assemblyman, was referring to Bawang Assan assemblymen Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian, and Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong.

The three were among the leaders and members of the dissolved PSB who joined PDP en bloc during an event in Sibu last Saturday.

On whether these leaders would be regarded as part of GPS, Fazzrudin said it would be up to the GPS Supreme Council to determine their status.

“According to the process, I’m sure PDP will make a report to the highest authority or (supreme) council of GPS. We leave this to our supreme council to decide. I’m not in the GPS (supreme) council, so I don’t know,” he said.
