Health clinic gets new breastfeeding room, thanks to MP
KUCHING: The Tanah Puteh Health Clinic in Pending here now has a breastfeeding room thanks to the RM100,000 contribution by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.
“That room is also used by nurses in the clinic to teach new mothers how to breastfeed their newborns.
“Part of the contribution was also used to buy new furniture, cupboards, computers and other necessities,” said the Democratic Action Party (DAP) lawmaker in a statement yesterday.
The statement was issued following his recent visit to the clinic to monitor the upgrading works of his contribution.
The visit also enabled him to follow up on different needs of the clinic and find ways to improve the benefits of the staff and patients.
“Tanah Puteh Health Clinic is a government clinic with a long history, and its location happens to be in the middle of Bandar Kuching parliamentary constituency.
“Since I was elected as a Member of Parliament, I have always been concerned about the needs of the clinic,” he said.
Dr Yii pledged to continue addressing the other needs and concerns of the public, including repair and upgrading works of the infrastructure.
“We will write to the Kuching Divisional Health Office to seek cooperation and offer our assistance to the clinic in various aspects for the benefit of the clinic, patients and staff,” he said.
