LPKP chairman: Miri Smart Bus system to be implemented in July
KUCHING: The Miri Smart Bus system is set for implementation this July, says Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) chairman Michael Kong.
This was among the issues discussed during his meeting with LPKP Miri office on Thursday.
“We are in the midst of fine tuning some of these issues with federal and state transport ministries to ensure smooth operation of these new buses,” said Kong in a statement.
Kong, also the special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said he was pleased to see that the LPKP Miri office was operating smoothly, despite being the only office within the Northern Sarawak region serving the operators from Lawas, Limbang and Miri.
Two dialogue sessions, one with the lorry associations and the other with taxi and e-hailing drivers, were also conducted during Kong’s visit to Miri.
“The dialogues provided valuable opportunities for constructive, twoway discussions with key stakeholders and were essential for fostering a deeper understanding of the industry’s dynamics” he said.
“As LPKP Sarawak undergoes the process of updating and revising its guidelines and policies, we greatly value these engagements and welcome all forms of communication that can contribute to enhancing the services provided by LPKP Sarawak and uplifting the state’s commercial vehicle industry.
“Moving forward, our LPKP Sarawak team is committed to thoroughly evaluating all suggestions and ideas garnered from these dialogue sessions,” he said, adding that the team will prioritise areas set for improvements and work diligently to implement the necessary enhancements.
