Maurice Lacroix’s Aikon collection welcomes another icon with the introduction of the Aikon Automatic Skeleton – the first mechanical watch in the longstanding line of quartz timekeepers. At 45mm in diameter, the automatic watch certainly makes its presence known with the emblematic six arms enhancing its powerful persona. The most attractive thing, however, is the interesting manner in which the in-house calibre ML234 automatic movement has been skeletonised. The DLCcoated bridges are assembled to seemingly ripple from the mainspring barrel at one o’ clock, with their central canals lowered and sandblasted while their satin-brushed outlines sits a level above. Continuing with the skeletonisation of the movement, almost all the components are hollowed, including the barrel, balance wheel, winding mechanism and oscillating weight.
