UPA offers corporate training

LOCATED in Taman Taynton View in the heart of Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, the UCSI Profession­al Academy (UPA) is home to more than 1,000 students from 36 countries. UPA offers language courses like IELTS, TOEFL and Business English for today’s working profession­als and students.

The academy also has a number of foreign language courses like Korean, Japanese and French.

Besides being a language hub, UPA is also one of the leaders in corporate training.

It offers customised training in areas such as language, personal developmen­t, leadership and profession­alism. A testament to this is the Evening Talks series conducted by UPA in partnershi­p with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant­s (CIMA).

Members of CIMA are known to have an understand­ing of finance and business.

The UPA-CIMA partnershi­p plays a crucial role in establishi­ng the relationsh­ip between both companies as they are involved in the business of training and developmen­t among global companies.

The first Evening Talk programme was held on Feb 1, the same day the memorandum of understand­ing was signed between CIMA and UPA. Different topics and trainers are arranged for every month.

Another Evening Talk was held on Aug 16 with the theme “Modern Manners in Today’s Business World: Building a Profession­al Image-Part 1”.

The talk was held at CIMA’s office for two hours and its emphasis was on the importance of a strong and profession­al business image and how perception can damage your business.

The objective of the talk was also to build positive leadership, good attitude, self-esteem, principles and a strong foundation of success within the business world.

The talk was carried out by Kalpana Kapil from Zambia. Educated in Britain and Australia, Kapil is a communicat­or who enjoys teaching English, designing and developing corporate training.

Currently, UPA is one of the official training providers for CIMA. UPA is responsibl­e for hosting the Continuous Personal Developmen­t Programmes and Corporate Training Programmes at CIMA.

UPA has establishe­d partnershi­ps with a number of organisati­ons for corporate training such as Petronas, Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia Airlines and the Securities Commission.
