ONG Chee Woon, had just finished his SPM last week. He has been planning for this day for years and now it is finally here.

He has held firm to his ambition to be a qualified doctor. In the next few weeks, his family has to make some very crucial decisions ranging from should he wait for his SPM results or pursue a foundation programme; should he opt to study locally or overseas, if so where; medical degree.

Ong’s father, who was at his age, had it simpler. His father remembered his own days after completing SPM where his choices were simple, clear and straightforward. Not so for Ong.

Why would a parent send their child overseas instead of attending a local university was what he asked the student welfare officer from Global Academy Consultant Sdn Bhd, a company that has for many years sent more than 1,000 students overseas.

The savings for medical school fees ranging into thousands of Ringgit was a compelling reason highlighted during his free counselling session.

What about the quality of studying overseas he wondered? Ong was surprised to learn that many of these medical institutions associated with Global Academy such as Moscow State Medical Academy (MSMU), Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU), Universitas Padjadjaran (UnPAD), Soo Chow University and Tong ji University in China and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) are all recognised by WHO, UNESCO, Medical Councils of many countries, and the Universities from Russia and Indonesia are 100% recognised by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Jabatan Perkhdmatan Awam (JPA) and Malaysia Medical Council (MMC) making their medical graduates highly sought after globally.

How important is visa applications as some of these countries offer tourist visas upon arrival? Some errant agencies have sent students on a tourist visa. This resulted in these students being forcefully deported upon arrival by the local authorities. Global Academy Consultant Sdn Bhd’s students have never experienced such an ordeal.

What provisions can I make for my child’s welfare and safety in these countries?

Global Academy Consultant Sdn Bhd has student welfare offices in all the countries it sends its students to; thus, ensuring continuous student support during their years in a foreign country.

The five steps listed above are crucial to ensure a successful international medical school experience. Call them for a free counselling session today.
