ADVANCE Tertiary College (ATC) was formed in 1987 to provide local educational opportunities for school-leavers and working adults. The emphasis at that time was to provide Malaysian students with access to professional and tertiary education, particularly legal education. Since its inception, ATC has served the community with its brand of excellent education at affordable prices for 25 years.

In this time, ATC has become the largest independent law school in the Asian region with two campuses in Malaysia (KL and Penang), one in Singapore, and a joint venture partnership in Hong Kong with the publicly funded Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Its Business School has also grown to offer a variety of certificate, diploma, and degree programmes that are contemporary and market-driven.

ATC is now one of the nine affiliate centres of University of London worldwide for Law programmes. Through its various campuses, ATC offers University of London’s prestigious Diploma in Law, Bachelor of Laws, and Master of Laws programmes.

ATC’s growth in the last quarter of a century can be credited to its strong commitment to excellence and academia. This is created in a manner that allows the adoption of teaching-learning methodologies and the provision of research facilities that are student-centric and geared towards enhancing and improving academic performance.

The University of London recognises the excellence produced by the team at ATC. University of London External Undergraduate Laws Programme, immediate past director, Professor Dr. Wayne Morrison states, “ATC has groomed students on the University of London programme to achieve first class honours and second class upper honours degrees and is the single largest institution in the world to produce such results on the University of London degree programme”. ATC was also one of only five institutions worldwide recognised for excellence in conjunction with the University of London’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

ATC students’ excellent results in the external programmes every year are testament to this fact. With thousands of graduates currently involved in the legal arena, the corporate sector and media industry, among others, ATC graduates (whether from Malaysia, Singapore, or Hong Kong) are highly employable in both local and international job sectors.

The students are given ample opportunities to develop themselves holistically with extracurricular activities that are related to the legal field, such as debating and mooting. The ATC moot team is regionally recognised as a force to be reckoned with, as it has emerged champion multiple times in the LAWASIA moot competition and the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) competition.

Credit for ATC successes lies primarily in the cultural mindset of people who make up this institution. It is their unfailing dedication and philosophy of continuous improvement of the institution and the students that has not only ensured ATC’s survival but also contributed to its excellent reputation, both locally and internationally.

ATC is also a member of the prestigious International Association of Law Schools.

All Malaysian school-leavers are encouraged to take advantage of ATC’s 25th year anniversary scholarship offer.
