ETHICAL values and high morals are among the most important aspects in producing graduates who are competent, holistic, and equipped with soft skills which they can improve the marketability and quality of graduates.

In conjunction with Senior Citizens Day, PTPL College Sabah, in collaboration with the Student and Career Development of the college, visited Sri Pritchid Old Folks Home recently. It is located in the district of Kinarut, Papar, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The community service activities involved 22 students from various courses.

The one-day programme aims to inculcate among the students a desire to give help to those in need.

It is also a meaningful experience for undergraduates of PTPL. Get-to-know sessions between students and the elderly residents provide a valuable experience for the students.

They also contributed daily necessities and food to the old folks home. The programme was filled with fun activities as the students sang songs such as “Sayang Kinabalu” and “Anak Kampung” while watching the residents produce handicraft items which are their daily activities. Students also did some cleaning of the Sri Pritchid old folks home prayer room.

Students involved said this was to train them how to manage the programme while getting valuable experience by fostering awareness and the nature of caring for the needy.
