Speed ahead with good English

-

RESEARCH in the last 15 years has shown that not only do we tend to have more jobs in our working lives than our parents did, but we are also likely to make a complete switch in career at least twice.

The reality, for now at least, is that if you have not mastered English, you are potentially at a severe disadvantage. Cambridge English For Life (CEFL) offers a wide range of Business English programmes designed to increase professionalism and aid access to essential knowledge sources.

Business English Certificates (BEC)

As an authorised centre for the University of Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages Examinations), CEFL delivers courses to prepare for the full suite of Cambridge BEC. Throughout each course, the use of English in business is reflected and the four key language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are taught and then assessed in the examination.

As well as being widely accepted by institutions of higher learning, many employers are now using this certification as part of their staff development programmes or looking for this internationally recognised qualification when recruiting staff.

Business English Communications Skills Programme

The Business English Communications Skills Programme is designed to help participants develop and refine their language knowledge and skills for various situations. The programme begins with a diagnostic assessment of existing knowledge, command as well as business language usage.

General English Proficiency (GEP)

The GEP course comes at two levels – Beginner and Elementary – and is designed to help learners develop their communicative ability in English.

Each level is conducted over 40 hours. In each unit of the course text, learners are given opportunities to read, hear and use the target language in communicative contexts.

Conversational English

The Conversational English course, available at two levels, is an integrated programme designed to develop oral communication skills. Each course level is conducted over 40 hours and includes interesting and innovative thematically linked topics.

The term “lifelong learning” recognises that learning takes place throughout life and in a range of situations. During the last 50 years, scientific and technological innovation and change has had a profound effect on learning needs and styles.

Cambridge English For Life recognises the need for flexibility and therefore, its Business English courses can be studied either at one of its CEFL centres or as part of a corporate training programme.

CEFL also offers a full-range of English programmes for children from pre-school through to pre-university level. Junior English (JE) is offered at two levels for pre-schoolers from age four to six.

The Cambridge Young Learners English (YLE) courses for primary school students have six levels and lead to the Cambridge Young Learners English Tests. By the end of the YLE programme, students will have a thorough grounding and an effective foundation for further learning of the language.

Courses for secondary level students prepare them for the more advanced Cambridge ESOL Main Suite Examinations, which culminate in the Certificate of Proficiency in English. There are seven levels for the CEFL Main Suite programme.
