The ABC of success
THE formula for success at KBU International College does not only stop at academic excellence, but includes developing transferable soft skills by exposing students to extracurricular activities.
The various clubs and activities which are available at KBU shape organisational abilities, leadership qualities, social skills, teamwork and other soft skills which are useful in the real world.
In line with its mission to produce allrounded students, the Accounting and Business Club (ABC) was launched recently in an event which saw enthusiastic response from students of the various schools, including engineering and the design schools.
KBU International College deputy principal Liew Wai Fan officiated the launch of the club.
In conjunction with this, the ABC organised a second-hand book fair, which was overwhelmingly successful. It was a good opportunity for seniors to sell their old books and the new students to get the books at a lower price.
The club is aimed at preparing students for accounting and business careers by organising activities such as seminars, factory visits and talks by industry experts that give students exposure to marketing, management, leadership, fundraising, finance and community service.
“Students will have the opportunity to participate in various events that will develop their skills, increase knowledge and enhance their professionalism,” says the club president Iskender Mokenov Isken who hails from Krygzistan.
“At the same time, through the various activities that will be organised, students will be exposed to the aspects of marketing, management, leadership, finance, social sciences and so on. This will help to mould the students to be excellent accountants, entrepreneurs and businessmen.”
He adds that the association will invite professional accountants from time to time to enlighten the students on current developments and trends in the industry.
