Nurturing potential

-

KYUEM is an outstanding pre-university college where students score excellent results in their Cambridge A-Level examinations.

They regularly gain admission to leading universities throughout the world.

Along with the highest level of academic achievement, they are encouraged to develop “soft” skills that employers appreciate.

They are taught how to be responsible for their own actions and are also given opportunities to lead.

KYUEM’s July 2010 group of students recorded the best A-Level results in the college’s history: • 87.4% of grades gained were at A*-B • 40.1% of grades gained were at A* • 70.1% of grades gained were at A* or A • 25.2% of these students gained at least four A grades at A-Level • 59.3% of these students gained at least three A grades at ALevel

Last year, five students enrolled in Cambridge University.

This year, four students have received conditional offers from Oxford and Cambridge.

One of them has been offered to study history at Somerville College, Oxford, while others have been offered by Cambridge University to study engineering, law and medicine at Fitzwilliam College, Murray Edwards College and Robinson College, respectively.

Each year, around 80% of the students go to top-ranked universities in the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.

This has become commonplace at the college since it was established in 1998.

How is this level of success attained and sustained throughout the years?

KYUEM students are selected not only on grounds of academic ability, but also because they display commitment to a range of other activities.

The college employs both local and expatriate teachers who are well-qualified with first class honours and masters’s degrees and doctorates.

They are convinced of the value of their work and they share a desire to help their students succeed.

KYUEM students work hard and assessments of their progress are conducted regularly.

If a student faces difficulties, the problems are addressed.

They are also advised how to study and revise effectively.

They also receive excellent guidance on university applications.

Competition for places at the world’s leading universities is more intense now than it has ever been.

Admission requirements are higher. KYUEM students are wellplaced to meet these demands through the well-informed university placement counselling they receive.

The college provides its students with a broad range of extra-curricular opportunities in sport, drama, debates and other activities, both cerebral and cultural.

This helps to develop their interests, personalities, teamwork, communication skills and leadership potential.

KYUEM believe in educating students holistically.

Fully residential and co-educational, the college is located about 60km north of Kuala Lumpur in Lembah Beringin.

It’s situated in a beautiful, rural environment ideal for academic life.

In many ways, KYUEM is a microcosm of Malaysia.

Not only does the demographic mix of its students mirror the nation’s population, its quest for success reflects the country’s recovery since the 1998 economic crisis.

Its diversity, its global outlook and the international make-up of its teaching staff ensure that KYUEM students, both Malaysian and international, are well prepared to make their mark in the fast-moving, demanding 21st century.

The college values tolerance. It is also committed to producing young men and women who will play leading roles in their own nations and in the international economy.

It respects tradition and the Asian values of family, community and religious faith, but it also recognises education as the liberating and mind-broadening experience that it has to be.

KYUEM encourages its students to entertain the highest aspirations. It also helps them turn these ideals into reality.

KYUEM is now also open to international students and wel- comes talented students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular activity participation to apply for the July 2013 intake.

The KYUEM Open Day will be held on March 30 from 10.15am to 2pm at its campus in Lembah Beringin.
