BEING one of the pioneers in private vocational culinary academia in Malaysia, Cilantro Culinary Academy has trained thousands of students in 12 of its industrial-standard kitchens since 2006.
Moving forward, apart from the kitchens, it now also trains students to run and manage a restaurant.
Diploma level students are given the task of designing their menu, managing the stock inventory, kitchen management, barista, servicing and last but not least, customer service.
Each student has a chance to become the executive chef or head chef, where he will be the main person responsible for designing menu, assigning duties, ensuring quality of food and also the smooth operations in both the kitchen and restaurant.
This is a good training ground for students to be exposed to the realities of working life.
Cilantro Culinary Academy believes that practice makes perfect.
This is why it offers 70% practical teaching in its syllabus and tries its best to expose stu- dents to various job areas that are related to what they study.
Cilantro Culinary Academy is having a four-day Career Discovery Programme (CDP), organised for anyone who has an interest in culinary and pastry arts.
The programme is the best place for cooking enthusiasts to explore their passion in this field.
It is also a chance for them to gain almostreal-life experience by working in the kitchen with chefs.
At the end of the CDP, participants will be able to go home with a better idea on culinary arts and if the field is the right calling for them.
The next CDP is from March 12 to 15 and it is now open for registration.
