Sharing the GMI experience

-

IT was about seven months ago that the students of GermanMalaysian Institute (GMI) first stepped foot into the institution.

Now into their second semester in their respective Diploma programmes at GMI, these students talk about their reasons for being at GMI, their experiences and their plans upon graduation.

Putra Mohd Nor Ridzwan Azhar ( pic), who is studying the Diploma in Product Design & Manufacturing in his second semester, said: “Love at first sight. That was what I felt the moment I stepped into the campus compound.

“I was blown away by the size of the campus and more fascinated when we were taken on a departmental tour during Orientation Week,” he said.

At GMI, Putra and his classmates are given hands-on exposure to technologies suited to real-life application.

His interest in technology training is enhanced by the Technical Training Officers (TTO).

Kishan Kumar Sivaji is studying the Diploma in Industrial Electronics (Mechatronics). He is also in his second semester.

“The reason I am here is because GMI is the best institute for engineering.

“It bridges the gap between engineering and technology and also provides technical hands-on experience.

“My cousin is a graduate of GMI. And now, he is an assistant engineer at an established international oil and gas company.

“The synergy between the engineering know-how and know-why at GMI is truly amazing. GMI is all about advanced technology training. “It is a must-see and a must-be-here for those who are absolute believers in Technical and Vocational Training and Education (TVET),” said Kishan.

Soon Tzi Chiau, who is studying the Diploma in Industrial Electronics (Mechatronics) and is in his the second semester, said: “Before I joined GMI, I was already into vocational training back in high school. GMI has much more to offer if one is looking for training in engineering and technology.”

GMI is located in the picturesque suburb of Kajang.

The institute offers advanced technology and skilled training under the Department of Production Technology and Department Of Industrial Electronics.
