IPOH International Starwalk 2013 has registered a record-breaking 18,000 participants, the biggest ever since the inaugural walk in 2004!

Set to be flagged off at Stadium Indera Mulia at 7am on Sunday, the walkers are all geared up for the event which also coincides with Ipoh city’s 25th anniversary celebration and Father’s Day. Talk about triple the joy and merriment!

It will be a fun outing for family and friends in the 7km non-competition category with the participants enjoying a leisure walk while taking in the scenic route of Ipoh town.

Whereas competition will definitely be stiff in the 10km competition round, divided into Malaysian and International categories, with the serious walkers going all out to add another title to their belts.

The winners stand to win attractive prizes while all successful competitors who complete the walk within the prescribed time limit are qualified to participate in the much awaited lucky draw.

Under the International category (open to all with a qualifying time below 50 minutes), the winners in the Men and Women groups (20 years and above) will take home RM2,000 and RM1,500 respectively.

The prize money, sponsored by the Ipoh City Council, will be given to winners up to 10th placing for both groups. Participants from 11th to 25th placing will each get a medal.

The Malaysian competition category is made up of Men and Women (for those aged 20 to 39 years), Men Junior Veteran (40-49), Men Senior Veteran (50-59), Men Diamond Veteran (60 and above), Women Veteran (40-49), Women Senior Veteran (50 and above), Boys and Girls (13-19).

All top three winners of the 11 categories will take home pewter trophies courtesy of Renaissance Pewter Sdn Bhd, whose master craftsmen and their apprentices strive to achieve perfection in every exquisite hand-crafted design.

The excitement does not end at the finishing line but continues with the carnival of fun games, quizzes, refreshments and a variety show featuring among others, Latin dance, Broadway-style ballet, yoga and belly dance.

The stadium will be a beehive of activities as participants throng the venue to enjoy the programmes lined up as well as to tuck into the freebies provided.
