The Aedes busters

-

MOSQUITOES are the vector for many deadly diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya, malaria and yellow fever. In Malaysia, Aedes mosquitoes are particularly notorious, causing deaths.

Unfortunately, there is still no vaccine available. Combating the Aedes mosquitoes seems to be the only solution. To be successful, it calls for discipline, determination as well as the use of proper devices.

Khind-Mistral (M) Sdn Bhd, an innovative maker of electrical household appliances in Malaysia, is determined to see through the battle with these mosquitoes.

Khind-Mistral has invested lots of resources in developing and refining a range of products nicknamed “The Aedes Busters”.

The first generation of Aedes Busters, IK 607, launched in 2010, successfully used ultra violet light, carbon dioxide and warmth to attract and trap Aedes mosquitoes.

So far, it has been effective as these mosquitoes could not resist the lure of carbon dioxide and warmth, which mimic the breath of human beings.

The IK 610 is a refined version of the Aedes Buster that is equipped with a four-hour timer that automatically cuts off its power supply after the job is done.

This timer brings about a more eco-friendly and intelligent way of busting Aedes mosquitoes. Before using a room or hall, just place it a few metres above the ground and switch it on with the other lights switched off.

After four hours, the room should be free from mosquitoes and the Aedes Buster’s power supply should be off. With this smart feature, the life span of the UV lamps can be extended by more than four folds.

Unlike other mosquito or insect catchers available in the market, this new Aedes Buster is safe to use even with children around. It has no smell, does not use chemicals and is non-toxic.

This new Aedes Buster comes in two colours, maroon and blue. They also come with a two-year warranty, excluding the ultraviolet lamps and glue trays.
