Festive fanfare awaits shoppers
HEAD to Ist Avenue Mall in Penang to celebrate MidAutumn Festival in style. Indulge yourselves in a wide variety of tantalising mooncakes and pastries, and take some time to capture the scenery of the beautiful lanterns on display.
To commemorate this festive occasion, 1st Avenue Mall will be organising various activities.
As for decorations, it is displaying a backdrop depicting the Chinese legend behind the festival, showing the Goddess of the Moon and the moon rabbit. It is a beautiful backdrop for shoppers to pose with.
According to advertising and promotions manager Carl Ooi, the aim was to give shoppers a better insight into the legend and history behind the celebration.
During the festival, the mall will be holding its Mooncake Fair from Sept 6 to 19, in front of AEON BIG’s exit on the 4th floor.
There will be a wide selection of mooncakes from a variety of suppliers, and shoppers will be spoilt for choice.
Shoppers are also invited to participate in the Rabbit Lantern Making Contest on Sept 8, to be held from 2pm to 4pm, at the promotion space next to the Mooncake Fair.
The creativity of participants will be put to the test, as they will have to design and decorate a rabbitshaped lantern.
Attractive cash vouchers up to RM350 can be won.
Art enthusiasts can also enjoy themselves on Sept 15, in the Mid-Autumn Rabbit Designing and Decorating Contest, held from 2pm to 4pm at the same venue.
Let your creative juices flow, and design and decorate the most ingenious rabbit-shaped sculpture, to be in the running for prizes worth up to RM300.
To make shopping even more exciting during the month of September, 1st Avenue Mall will be rewarding our shoppers through its ‘Spin & Win’ programme from Sept 6 to 19.
Those who spend RM150 and above (RM100 for CIMB Bank credit and debit card holders) in a single receipt can participate by heading to the Information Counter and spinning blocks in a ‘slot machine’ styled game.
Lucky ones who obtain three matching pictures will be rewarded with three pieces of exclusive moon cakes.
The Moon Cake Festival at 1st Avenue Mall promotion runs from Sept 1 to 30.
