LOCAL Infiniti retailer, Inspired Motor Sdn Bhd, has confirmed that the latest Q50 model slated for launch in Malaysia next year will come with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine ( pic).

Making its debut at last month’s Guangzhou Motor Show, the direct injection powerplant, now joins the list of engines available for the Q50, which includes the 2.2-litre turbodieseL, the 3.5litre petrol hybrid and the range topping 3.7-litre petrol V6.

With the Chinese market seen as the world’s fastest growing premium automotive market, the country will be the first to receive the engine, sometime in the second quarter of 2014, followed by the rest of the world.

Power figures for the 1,991cc four-cylinder engine has been rated at 211bhp at 5,500rpm and 320Nm of torque from 1,250 to 3,500rpm.

The engine’s high torque, which is available from low engine revs, promises flexible and efficient driving.

It also is rated at Euro 5 and is a product of a collaboration between Infiniti and Daimler AG.

The Q50 is the first vehicle in the company’s new line-up and reflects the luxury brand’s core values of seductive design, passionate attention to details, precision in fit and finish, exhilarating performance and a provocative challenge to the status quo.

The vehicle was also developed with inputs from four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel in his capacity as Infiniti’s director of performance.
