FOR more than 35 years, SEGi University Group (SEGi) has equipped graduates from diverse backgrounds with exceptional education for career achievement and personal success.

The group first opened its doors as Systematic College in 1977 in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s commercial district, offering professional qualifications.

Since then, the group has experienced significant growth by adapting and catering to an increasing demand for higher academic and professional qualifications in Malaysia.

Today, the group is one of the largest private higher education providers in Malaysia with five major campuses located in Kota Damansara, Subang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sarawak.

SEGi is constantly on a quest to maximise its students’ natural talents and potential with quality education.

This will lead to SEGi graduates who can be key industry leaders to contribute to nation-building.

This is why SEGi endeavours to reach out to wider segments of society with a broad range of programmes that in turn have earned SEGi numerous awards.

Recently, SEGi was awarded gold for the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Award 2013, under the category of Private Universities/ Colleges.

The Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Survey has a well-established reputation as the premier consumer-based and international measure of brand preference.

It identifies trusted Asian brands and provides an objective and reliable reference for consumers throughout the region.

SEGi also won the silver trophy for the education and learning category in the Putra Brand Awards 2013. The Putra Brand Awards features the country’s top brands as voted by 6,000 respondents, making this one of the leading consumer surveys in Malaysia.

Not being one that will rest on its laurels, SEGi is steadfast in its quest to make education accessible to all and will continue to raise the bar for education excellence in Malaysia.

Its pursuit to enable the best in its students has been noticed by various parties.

The government has appointed SEGi to be the leader in providing qualified early childhood care and education (ECCE) practitioners in the country.

SEGi is also selected to be the project leader to train and develop international students from several countries under the government’s SkillsMalaysia International Technical Education and Vocational Training Programme (SkillsMalaysia INVITE).

SEGi has built strong global connections with well-known international universities, offering gradu- ates a variety of internationally recognised qualifications that can be fully completed locally.

Many large corporations that are industry leaders are now working with SEGi to create added value to students.

Students can have opportunities to intern or work at these corporations in order for them to learn from the best in the industry.

Recent developments in the SEGi University Group include the formation of Centres of Excellence (CoE). SEGi aims to build upon strong foundations and transform from a generalist institution into specialist CoEs.

By focusing on only a few areas of strength, the CoE will be able to deliver a superior education experience.

So far, there are five CoEs: Hospitality and Tourism as well as Business at SEGi College KL, Early Childhood Care and Education as well as Creative Arts and Design at SEGi College Subang Jaya, and Technology and Innovation at SEGi University.

All the CoEs have produced students who have won various awards at state and national levels in their respective fields of study.
