Career Day at new campus

uNITAR Internatio­nal University with its new 15-storey main campus in Kelana Jaya organised its first Career Day by collaborat­ing with 20 renowned companies.

The Career Day aimed to provide the latest informatio­n on career opportunit­ies from UNITAR’s industry partners and other selected companies as a platform to offer jobseekers the advantage of coming face to face with their choice of employers.

The event was attended by more than 500 students and the public.

“Since employabil­ity is one of the three core values of UNITAR, this Career Day is part of the strategic plans for UNITAR in 2013,” said the university’s Director of Strategic Alliance and Communicat­ions Office Sheikh Fahmy Sheikh Mohamed.

Among the companies that participat­ed were Hong Leong Islamic Bank, KidZania, Legoland Malaysia, CIMB, Maxis, Perodua, Petrosains, FStep, Bernama, Malaysia Airlines (MAS), San Francisco Coffee Sdn Bhd, Careerxcel­l, Children Islamic Circle, Genius Aulad, Polis Diraja Malaysia, PT Foundation, Malaysian Relief Agency, PKNS, The Royale Bintang and Teach for Malaysia.

MAS and Petrosains also conduct- ed walk-in interview sessions to interested students and the public to offer them on-the-spot employment.

The Career Day gave an opportunit­y for the companies to recruit potential employees and to showcase their companies. Career talks were also given by Legoland Malaysia, Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme (FStep) and Petrosains.

“The Career Day is not just for our students but also for the public to take the opportunit­y to interact with companies that are their preferred choice of employers,” said Head of Career Placement and Alumni Relations Department Elmeira Shamsuddin.

The university’s new campus in Kelana Jaya is located beside the Kelana Jaya police station.

Amenities close by include major establishm­ents such as Giant Hypermarke­t, Paradigm Mall, Empire Shopping Gallery, Sunway Pyramid and Subang Parade.

Currently, UNITAR has 11 regional centres. Students can choose to study its courses through its regional centres in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; Kuching, Sarawak; Alor Setar, Kedah; Kota Baru, Kelantan; Johor Baru, Johor; Ipoh, Perak; Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan; Penang; Malacca; Jengka, Pahang; and Keningau, Sabah.
