Give your child a good head start

-

STARTING kindergarten is always an exciting moment for both children and parents. It is also vital that one chooses the right kindergarten, as the preschool period is probably the most crucial stage in a child’s development process.

Deciding on which kindergarten to send a child to can be a challenging task for parents, and understandably so.

It is after all, the first time that a child embarks on his or her educational journey and gets thrust into a school-like environment.

R.E.A.L Kids or formerly known as Child Enrichment Centre (CEC), is the country’s largest owner-operated kindergarten chain with more than 30 centres and 5,000 students nationwide.

Balanced curriculum

R.E.A.L Kids’ full programmes with its wide array of enriching lessons and enhanced extracurricular activities, supports a complete and balanced curriculum that offers national and international-based preschool education.

The new R.E.A.L Kids centre in Bandar Sunway is the latest to join the fray and slated for academic commencement in January 2014.

This new establishment is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding struck between R.E.A.L and the Sunway Group to set up a kindergarten that is purpose-built and complete with state-of-the-art facilities that include a swimming pool, computer lab, library, music room, M.I. room and a playground and more.

Being listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the “first kindergarten in Malaysia to be accredited with ISO 9001:2000” ensures that R.E.A.L Kids observes, monitors and maintains best practices and industry standards at all times.

In addition, R.E.A.L Kids was recognised for its overall quality when it received the NAPEI Award of Education Excellence in 2008, 2012 and 2013.

Multiple Intelligences approach

It is also the pioneer in incorporating the theory of Multiple Intelligences as a learning approach (founded by Dr Howard Gardner) in preschool education in Malaysia.

This approach aims to identify and acknowledge the different, inherent strengths in each child and to teach them based on their individual strengths.

For instance, a child who possesses “verbal linguistic” intelligence (word smart) would learn best through activities such as word games, rhyme recitation and telling stories.

This way, the child would be able to learn more effectively and also enjoy the learning process more.

R.E.A.L Kids believes that every child is an achiever. Thus, students are developed academically and holistically – covering areas such as language mastery, interpersonal and effective communication skills, as well as character building.

Other activities that are part and parcel of R.E.A.L Kids’ programmes include annual field trips, sports days and holiday camps.

The Cambridge Children’s House or CCH (also part of the R.E.A.L Education Group), is another establishment that is dedicated to the wholesome, early childhood development and education of children aged three to six years old.

Adopting a UK-based curriculum, children at CCH will master the English language through its proven Cambridge English programmes.

Lessons are activity-based with a focus on a child’s personal development rather than solely on academic achievement.

Likewise, in a stimulating, interactive and non-conventional learning environment at CCH, children are guided towards experiential, hands-on learning.

Established in 1986, R.E.A.L. Kids is the country’s largest owner-operated kindergarten chain with more than 30 centres nationwide.

Pioneers in adopting the Multiple Intelligences approach (founded by Dr Howard Gardner) in Malaysian preschool education, all R.E.A.L. Kids centres provide full programmes (from 8.30am to 3.30pm) which include a host of enrichment lessons and extra-curricular activities.

Extended programmes are also available (up to 6pm) to cater to busy, working parents.

Cambridge Children’s House (CCH) which is located at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, is a learning centre with specially designed amenities that cater to life skills development, English language mastery and the development of children’s critical thinking and creative, problem-solving skills.
