Amember of the Terengganu royalty, Tuanku Aishah rohani, 62, was born in batu Gajah, Perak, on June 19, 1952. She is the daughter of Tengku Seri Utama raja, Tengku besar mahmud Sultan Zainal Abidin III and Tok Puan Zainun meriam Su mahmud.

Growing up, Tuanku Aishah attended Sekolah rendah Sultan Sulaiman in Kuala Terengganu before continuing her secondary education at the Taiping Convent School in Perak and the Convent bukit Nanas school in Kuala Lumpur.

A former employee of First National City bank (now known as Citibank), it was there that a young Tuanku Aishah met her future husband, Tuanku muhriz, in 1972.

They tied the knot on April 25, 1974, and are blessed with three sons – Tunku Ali redhauddin, 32, Tunku Zain Al-Abidin, 27, and Tunku Alif Hussein Saifuddin AlAmin, 25.

Despite her busy schedule, Tuanku Aishah, a member of the Inner Wheel Club, still finds time to participat­e in charitable causes.

She is also a member of the Kuala Lumpur Speakers’ Club.

Having attended courses on child developmen­t, Tuanku Aishah is well-versed on the subject of childcare, with issues related to special children close to her heart.

Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz

The oldest of three children, Tunku Ali redhauddin was born on April 26, 1977, in Kuala Lumpur.

He was appointed Tunku besar Seri menanti, the most senior of the Putera Yang empat on Feb 22.

Tunku Ali attended the Sri Inai Junior School and the Alice Smith School for his primary education.

In 1990, at the age of 13, Tunku Ali began boarding school at marlboroug­h College in Wiltshire, england, and remained there until he completed his GCSe and A-Levels.

besides excelling academical­ly, the young prince was also a leader at school and was elected head of his boarding house. Tunku Ali also represente­d his school in basketball and badminton besides undergoing basic military training as a member of the Combined Cadet Force.

Armed with a scholarshi­p from Sime Darby and the Cambridge Commonweal­th Trust, he went on to pursue a degree in History and Social and Political Science at Cambridge University, england.

While at university, he was a committee member of the university’s malaysian Society and treasurer of the Cambridge University Orient express – a body set up to encourage cultural relations between britain and other Asian cultures.

Upon graduation in 1998, Tunku Ali began working life at mcKinsey & Company in London.

He served in europe and the United States before returning to Asia, where he worked in malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In 2004, he joined Khazanah Nasional berhad as a director in its investment division.

He is also on the board of several companies including Asia Capital reinsuranc­e malaysia.

Tunku Zain Al-Abidin Tuanku Muhriz

Tunku Zain Al-Abidin was born in Kuala Lumpur on July 6, 1982.

Like his older brother, Tunku Zain received his primary education at the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur before attending boarding school at marlboroug­h College in Wiltshire, england.

He was head of his boarding house and a representa­tive of Amnesty Internatio­nal. Tunku Zain also enjoys squash and badminton like his father Tuanku muhriz.

While studying in britain, the prince honed his piano-playing skills. He also received basic military training as a member of the Combined Cadet Force.

After completing his A-Levels, the prince furthered his studies at the London School of economics and Political Science, graduating with an honours degree in Sociology and Government. He also received an mSc in Comparativ­e Politics.

Tunku Zain was active in extracurri­cular activities serving on the committee of the malaysia Club and interning at the british House of Lords. Upon graduation, he worked for a Westminste­r think-tank before becoming a parliament researcher at the House of Commons.

In 2006, Tunku Zain began employment as a public sector consultant at the World bank in Washington DC in the United States.

He returned to malaysia in 2007 and worked temporaril­y for the United Nations Developmen­t Programme (UNDP) and a regional shareholdi­ng management firm based in Kuala Lumpur before becoming a research fellow at the National University of Singapore.

Throughout, he has been active in the developmen­t of Waubebas. org: The malaysia Think Tank which aims to uphold democracy and freedom in malaysia.

Tunku Alif Hussein Saifuddin Al-Amin Tuanku Muhriz

The youngest of the royal couple’s three sons, Tunku Alif Hussein Saifuddin Al-Amin, was born on Sept 3, 1984.

Wanting the best for their special needs child, both Tuanku muhriz and Tuanku Aishah attended courses at the Institutes for the Achievemen­t of Human Potential in the United States to explore treatment options for their young son.

From an early age, Tunku Alif undertook physiother­apy treatments as well as educationa­l programmes that were specifical­ly designed to improve his physical and mental capacity.

The family is close-knit and both Tunku Ali and Tunku Zain lavish their youngest brother with attention.
