Affordable One

- By LEE KAH LENG

Looking for a light, durable and budget-friendly smartphone with premium features? HTC has launched the one E8 which inherits many of the best features from the company’s flagship one M8 yet stays affordable.

Just like the flagship model, the one E8 has a 5in screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2gB RAM, 16gB of internal storage and LTE capability.

it also features dual front-facing speakers with BoomSound technology for enhancing audio.

There are a few differences, however. The E8 has a light, polycarbonate unibody instead of brushed metal surface. it also has a 13-megapixel sensor for the rear camera instead of Ultrapixel, which is surprising as the company has been a strong proponent of it.

HTC South Asia product marketing manager Wayne Tang said, “We felt that the 13-megapixel camera will prove to be a better value to our customers and it doesn’t compromise on quality.”

The Ultrapixel technology was used both on its one M8 and M7 flagship models.

For the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing wide-angle camera which is great for taking group selfie shots or recording full-HD videos.

The smartphone also features improved power management for extending the battery life.

The one E8 comes in two colours — Polar White or Misty grey — and is going for RM1,699. The Electric Crimson model will be arriving in october.
