Keeping it traditional

-

THESE days, mooncakes have evolved into a wide variety and combination of flavours that encompass bold, new tastes and textures and even some that sound somewhat experimental.

However, at the heart of it all, there is still a nostalgic reminiscence for the traditional flavours of yesteryear.

The familiar flavours that have been with us year after year in celebrating the MidAutumn Festival with our families will always have a special place in our hearts.

This year, keep it traditional with Marco Polo Restaurant’s range of mooncakes in both baked and snowskin “Ping Pei” options that centre around the all-familiar lotus paste in varieties of White Lotus and Pandan Lotus with or without egg yolk.

Other varieties include Mixed Nuts and Red Bean Paste. The most popular flavours here are the White Lotus varieties, Jade (Pandan) Lotus and Mixed Nuts.

Two to three years back, Marco Polo started offering Green Tea Lotus Paste mooncakes as well to tempt your tastebuds with the refreshing taste of green tea.

However, the undoubted “star” of the lineup and bestseller is the White Lotus Paste Single Yolk mooncake.

One bite of this and you will understand why. The smooth, silky white lotus paste is of a delightful texture, while the taste of the salted egg yolk adds dimension to the flavour with a hint of richness complemented by crunchy melon seeds.

Due to its quality and superior taste, Marco Polo mooncakes have garnered a strong following of regular customers who love this seasonal delicacy.

At Marco Polo, its mooncakes are baked fresh daily. They are hand-made and contain no preservatives, as well as contain less oil and sugar.

An interesting item to note is that freshly baked mooncakes actually take two to three days to “settle” to yield optimum taste and texture.

This year, Marco Polo has also unrolled beautiful packaging for its mooncakes that is sure to be well received.

Premium packaging is also available for gifting – you can upgrade to this premium packaging at RM30 when you purchase mooncakes.

The double-layer premium packaging box can be purchased on its own as well, at the price of RM49.90.

If you are planning a family dinner to mark the occasion, do keep a lookout for the Special Mid-Autumn Set Dinner Menu

available from Aug 29 until Sept 8.
