Simple tips for healthy hair
WHILE the latest hairstyles and hair colours may look great, dermatologists warn that many women are subjecting their hair to harsh chemicals and heated styling devices. Over time, lustrous hair can become lacklustre and brittle.
Neeta’s Herbal International founder Neeta Gosalia discusses the most common sources of hair damage and tips to reverse damage and maintain healthy, lustrous hair.
“A common misconception about hair is that it is alive. Hair is non-living and does not heal itself once it is injured,” says Neeta.
Getting to the root of chemical hair damage
Chemical damage is one of the most common culprits of hair damage, as processed hair loses its natural moisturisers. The result is dry and frizzy hair. Neeta’s tips to combat chemical damage: > Use conditioning shampoos and conditioners regularly. Two-in-one shampoos that remove oil from the scalp, clean and condition your hair are also good choices.
> Look for products containing coconut oil, which decreases static electricity, increases shine and improves manageability.
> Try hair serums or rub Neeta’s Herbal Hair Tonic directly into the scalp and hair.
> Stop dyeing your hair and opt for a natural hair colour instead.
Tips for healthy hair
> The less you do to your hair, the better. Avoid over-styling or processing it.
> Be sure to wash your scalp with a mild herbal shampoo, which gently washes off the oil and dead cells.
> Frequent washing is a big no. An oily scalp can be washed more often then a dry scalp, but never more than thrice a week.
> Use a normal conditioner on the ends of your hair for the best results. Neeta’s Herbal conditioners can be used both on the scalp and the hair as they protect damaged hair.
> Wear a hat to protect your hair from ultraviolet (UV) radiation or use Neeta’s Herbal products, which have natural ingredients that afford such protection.
