The Star Malaysia - Star2

A benchmark in flexible learning

-

THESE days it is difficult for working professionals, particularly those who travel frequently or have busy work schedules, to find good options for further study.

Balancing studies with work and family commitments is not easy so flexibility is a key consideration in any programme of study.

GlobalNxt University, a Manipal Group Institution, specifically targets working professionals and mobile executives who desire highly flexible, high-quality education with a global perspective.

With its academic headquarters in KL Sentral, the university began operations in December 2012.

The university has a rich academic heritage. It was first established in 2002 in Singapore as the U21Global graduate school.

After 10 years and 7,000 graduates, the institution was invited to re-establish itself as a full-fledged university in Malaysia as part of the country’s vision to be a global education hub.

GlobalNxt University’s distinctive feature is its learning approach and interactive, global classroom model.

Students can log on to the global classrooms anytime and anywhere with Internet connection. In the classroom, students have access to course materials, videos, lecture recordings and the e-library with more than 40,000 journals and 75,000 e-books.

The learning experience is highly engaging as students interact with each other and their professors through discussion boards and virtual webinar (web seminar) sessions so they feel constantly supported in their studies.

In fact, they get to engage with students from more than 73 different countries as part of a global learning community.

Each classroom is facilitated by a professor from the university’s pool of more than 50 international faculty members from across the world.

GlobalNxt University is one of the few institutions where all faculty members have a doctoral degree and substantial research experience. Furthermore, 70% of its professors have industrial experience.

Students can get in touch with their professors for queries and will find the professors helpful in supporting and guiding them through their studies.

In addition, the university also has a capable support team that comprises programme executives and technical staff who can address any issues or problems that a student may have.

Students also have the option to study at a pace that suits them. An MBA student, for example, can complete his MBA between 14 months and three years.

The university has launched its first Doctorate of Business Administration programme. Admissions are currently open with a 50% scholarship on the full fee. Students with relevant experience will be eligible for credit transfer.
