“The global success of the BMW X6 since its introduction in late May 2008 demonstrated this demand.

“The new X4 will carry forward the success story of the BMW invention of a SAC in the mid-sized segment,” said Harris at the recent media launch of the X4 xDrive28i at Sepang International Circuit.

The estimated price (on the road, without insurance, with BMW Service and Repair Inclusive) for the X4 xDrive28i is RM438,800.

The optional M Sport package costs an additional RM30,000 and includes 19-inch M light alloy wheels, the M Aerodynamics package, full colour head-up display, dual front leather sport seats, M Sport leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, and a 16-speaker 600W Harman Kardon surround sound system.

The company also introduced the 2.0-litre BMW X3 in both locally assembled petrol and diesel-powered variants.

The petrol-powered X3 xDrive20i produces 184hp from 5,000 to 6,250rpm and maximum torque of 270Nm from 1,250 to 4,500rpm.

It can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 seconds, and fuel consumption is rated at 7.2 litres per 100km.

Meanwhile, the diesel-powered X3 xDrive20d delivers 190hp at 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 400Nm at 1,750 to 2,500rpm.

The 0 to 100kph sprint is done in 8.1 seconds, and diesel consumption is rated at 5.2 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.

Unlike its petrol-powered sibling, the X3 xDrive20d comes with a panorama glass roof and rear view camera as standard.

Both X3 variants have an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. Prices (on the road, without insurance, with BMW Service and Repair Inclusive) are RM328,800 (petrol) and RM348,800 (diesel). — THOMAS HUONG
