EET Cherry Goh Su Ting, a sweet 22-yearold whose family is traditional on names. This means she never got a Christian name. So, together with her two sisters, they decided to give themselves “fruity” Mat Salleh names.

But after a while, Apple decided to rename herself Tiffany and Grapes opted for Grace – with only Cherry staying the same.

At a sprightly young age of nine, Cherry was enrolled into a ballet class and she was getting ready to be a teacher herself when she was 14.

“My ballet teacher said I had a sweet and approachable personality and it would help with teaching the younger ballet students. So I agreed. I did that till I was about 18,” explained Cherry.

After finishing her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Cherry’s

Mmother realised that her daughter has the height and looks of a model after having seen numerous fashion shows. “I came to Kuala Lumpur to attend the Amber Chia modelling Academy and it was there I began to learn about the modelling industry, and in a way, where my city life began too,” she said. Sadly, it would also be the end of her ballet lessons. But ballet isn’t the only thing she knows, there’s piano (Grade 5) and even ballroom dancing. “During family gatherings, all my siblings would get together and we’d play a few songs since my mother got us to learn a musical instrument each.”

While in Kuala Lumpur, Cherry keeps herself occupied with the company of her friends, when she’s not working, venturing out to new shopping places, coffee joints or restaurants.

“My favourite place to shop at is Mid-Valley; parking is affordable, it’s near to home and it keeps me interested with a variety of shops and exhibitions.”

If she’s feeling lazy, Cherry watches her favourite drama series online.

“It’s a form of de-stressing for me because during the weekdays, I’ll be busy juggling my assignments and modelling jobs”.

Ah yes, we didn’t mention that Cherry is currently a final year student of marketing and mass communications.

However, almost every fortnight, Cherry heads back to Malacca for the weekend.

“I miss my younger siblings and they miss me very much too.”

While modelling currently provides a good source of income, Cherry’s initial plan was to slowly fade off the “modelling radar” to concentrate on her job in the future, after graduating.

“I’d really like to become a successful business woman in the future, someone who’s both capable in the office and at home – preferably a crowded one, too.

“I guess I’m just used to having plenty of noise in the house, coming from a large family,” she mused.

With all that’s going on for her at the moment, Cherry still finds time to keep herself in check with some good ol’ home-cooked food that’s eaten at the proper times and in moderation.

She also goes for gym classes, at least once a week – well ... most of the time.

“Body pump is one of my favourite classes to attend and if I want to work out a little more, I’ll use the stationary bicycle to get my heart-rate and sweat going.”

Cherry is posing with the 1.6L Nissan Livina X-Gear in Tungsten Silver, priced at RM89,800 (OTR with insurance), with the full bevy of the options list installed – costing an additional RM15,620.

The optional items include a combination leather interior (RM1,800), door visor (RM320), LED wing mirror signal lights (RM400) and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation (RM3,300).

To round off the list are a set of Impul 17-inch Aura wheels (RM4,500) wearing 205/45 series Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres (RM1,800), Impul sports suspension (RM2,800) and an Impul rear spoiler (RM700).

“It’s a sporty looking car with those big rims and I’m amazed it even includes a reverse camera – that would make my parking woes go away, and not to mention I can stretch my long legs quite well inside the spacious cabin.”
