Impressive A-Levels results

-

KYUEM’s July 2012 group of students have recorded outstanding A-Levels results.

The broad statistics are excellent:

> 88% of grades gained were at A* -B

> 70% of grades gained were at A* or A

> 20% of these students gained at least four A grades

> 56% of these students gained at least three A grades

> 38% of grades obtained were A*

> 52% of students got straight A grades (including A* grades)

Headmaster Dr Paul Rogers said: “The results record a remarkable set of achievements by our students. They are also a tribute to the work of their teachers and the support of their parents.”

The four students with offers from Oxford and Cambridge met their grade requirements with panache, gaining 15 A* grades between them.

Twenty-five per cent of the July 2012 group gained at least three grades at A*.

KYUEM has a much smaller group of students who take A-Levels in 18 months. One of these students gained admission to Cambridge. Twenty-seven (about 53%) of these students gained at least three A grades at A-Levels.

KYUEM students take the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), which are seen all over the world to be excellent preparation for university-level study.

While results in the United Kingdom are not available for comparison yet, there is no doubt that KYUEM compares very favourably with the top British independent schools, particularly when the numbers taking four A-Levels are taken into account. It must be remembered that many of KYUEM’s students do not have English as their first language.

KYUEM also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and aims to educate “the whole person”.

KYUEM is proud of the fact that its students graduate with well-rounded skills, derived from their extensive co-curricular programme.

Many KYUEM students wish to study abroad, especially in the UK. The vast majority of students with offers from UK universities fulfil their requirements and go on to successful university life. A high proportion gain First Class Honours degrees.

Among the most popular destinations after Cambridge, are Imperial, LSE, UCL, Warwick, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Trinity College (Dublin) and a wide range of top-class medical schools.

The destinations of this year’s students also include Yale University and the University of California, Berkeley in the United States and the National University and Melbourne University in Australia.

KYUEM’s results at A-Levels show that it is one of Malaysia’s premier pre-university colleges.

An education at KYUEM does not just gain a student great A-Levels results, it also prepares him or her for the challenges of living and working in the 21st century.
