A practical focus
QUEST International University Perak (QIUP) is a young and dynamic university with equity participation from the Perak state government.
QIUP’s Foundation programmes are a great way to develop practical and academic skills after the SPM towards higher education.
The Foundation in Business and Foundation in Science programmes have a practical focus with a range of hands-on experience.
Students will also explore a selection of QIUP programmes to help them plan their future study in diploma or degree programmes.
QIUP takes its quest seriously and has attracted the best academicians from the nation. Its lecturers are passionate, industry-savvy, highly acclaimed and intelligent. It is important to have outstanding lecturers to produce outstanding students.
In this respect, QIUP has attracted the best intellectual minds. Its academic panel is nothing short of impressive.
Vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Hashim Yaacob is an accomplished teacher, researcher and academic administrator who has been appointed to chair professor at University of Malaya for 21 years.
He was Faculty of Dentistry dean and later Student Affairs deputy vicechancellor and finally rose to the position of vice-chancellor.
Following retirement from University Malaya in 2008, he became the vice-chancellor and chief executive officer of a few reputable private universities before taking up the vice-chancellorship of QIUP.
Faculty of Medicine dean Prof Dr Alam Sher Malik is a frequent speaker, organiser and facilitator for conferences and seminars in local and overseas universities. He feels strongly about the nature and standard of curriculum and its delivery and often lectures on new methodologies and issues pertaining to them.

QIUP’s quest is to develop allrounded graduates who not only excel in their studies, but also participate in various conferences and educational competitions dur- ing their study. This was proven when a project paper done by its first-year medical undergraduates was selected to be presented at the third International Public Health Conference and 20th National Public Health Colloquium in Kuching, Sarawak.
This paper, titled “Prevalence of Hypertension and its risks factors in an Orang Asli community in Perak, Malaysia” was the only paper chosen prepared by undergraduates among thousands.
To add to that, four undergraduates of the Bachelor of Computer Science programme participated in the IBM Mobilithon 2013 competition and emerged champions at this national level competition.
There are three faculties and one centre at QIUP which offer programmes at foundation, diploma, degree and postgraduate levels.
QIUP’s interim campus is strategically located in Ipoh.
Registration for the September intake is ongoing.
