All aboard for irresistible steaks

-

THERE are a few places in town where one can get a good steak and in an environment that is unique and special.

But every steak lover knows where to get the “Best Steak in Town” – The Ship Restaurant.

For over 40 years, The Ship has been fondly commended as an enjoyable place for celebrations.

After all this time, this restaurant chain is still proving itself to be an all-time Malaysian favourite, having recently won several awards, including the “Longest Operating Western Thematic Restaurant” in The Malaysia Book of Records.

Much of The Ship’s appeal lies in its signature look and feel. Its frontage is unmistakable from the outside – no other restaurant features a facade of a full-blown, life-sized hull of a ship positioned right in the middle of town.

Most of the wooden furniture, lighting, pictures, artefacts and decorations that adorn the restaurant were exclusively designed and manufactured for The Ship, lending to the overall charm of the restaurant’s nautical theme.

In fact, it has been said that The Ship is Malaysia’s first and original concept of a “themed” restaurant.

The menu at The Ship features a treasure trove of delectable dishes, with secret ingredients and recipes that have been perfected over the course of many years.

Favourite appetisers at The Ship include the oysters Rockefeller, which comprises oysters baked with butter spinach and finely chopped chicken bacon.

For keen oyster guzzlers who prefer it au naturel, it would be all too easy to go overboard with the air-flown New Zealand oysters on half shell, chilled and served with cocktails or Tabasco sauce.

Also greatly savoured are the luscious Escargots Bourguignonne, which offers French snails baked in Chablis garlic sauce.

From the soup tureens come a variety of piping hot, in-house made fresh soups such as the rich and creamy US seafood chowder or the aromatic French baked onion soup made with beef stock and a liberal amount of sliced fresh onions, giving the soup a bite and an almost broth-like consistency.

Succulent steaks

Naturally, being a steak house, the range of steaks takes centre stage. The Ship, however, did not earn a reputation for presenting the best steaks in town without cause.

The different prime cuts of beef, rib-eye, sirloin, T-bone and fillet Mignon are all done precisely to the degree you prefer and served as it is or with a selection of sauces.

Another appetising option is the tasty T-bone steak with barbecue sauce, which is mouthwatering from the first cut to the bone.

The Ship Restaurant also offers a variety of delicious seafood, from grilled fish to sizzling tiger prawns to its famous air-flown lobsters from the United States and Australia.

The lobster options available include grilled lobsters with garlic and butter and the lobster thermidor, which is baked with a cheesy sauce.

Desserts at The Ship are also deliciously unforgettable. From ice cream to banana splits to fruit platters, there is a variety of delicacies for those with a sweet tooth.

Complete your satisfying meal by sipping a cup of specialty coffee while you enjoy the enchanting atmosphere.

The Ship’s outlets in Kuala Lumpur are located at Jalan Bukit Bintang (03-2144 3605), Jalan Sultan Ismail (03-2141 8805), Jalan Dang Wangi at Pertama Complex (03-2698 3791) and Damansara Utama (03-7728 8020). Its Penang outlets are located at Jalan Batu Ferringhi (04-881 2142) and Sri Bahari Road (04-263 9532).
