Get lustrous hair

-

dERMATOLOGISTS warn that many women are subjecting their hair to harsh chemicals and heated styling devices that can damage the hair.

Neeta Gosalia of Neeta's Herbal International reveals the most common sources of hair damage and tips to reverse the damage and maintain healthy, lustrous hair.

"One of the most common misconceptions about hair is that it is alive, when in fact, hair is non-living and does not heal itself once it is damaged," says Neeta.

Neeta offers some tips to combat chemical damage. Use conditioning shampoos and conditioners regularly to improve the appearance of frizzy hair.

Look for products containing coconut oil, which is available in shampoos, conditioners, sprays and creams. Coconut oil has been known to decrease static electricity, increase shine and improve manageability.

Try the newly introduced hair serums, which are applied by a few drops on the hands and rubbed through the length of the hair.

Or just rub Neeta's Herbal Hair Tonic directly onto the scalp and hair.

For women considering keratin hair straightening, Neeta suggests avoiding this procedure if you have tightly kinked or curly hair. It requires greater heat and chemicals to rearrange the natural hair bonds, causing more damage.

To minimise hair damage and loss, extend the time between treatments. When washing hair, use a generous amount of herbal conditioner to make hair less brittle.

If hair becomes frizzy and brittle, stop the procedure and let new hair growth replace damaged hair and apply hot herbal oil to assist in the new growth and protect the damaged hair.
