IN line with its mission to provide high-quality education locally and internationally, KBU International College moves a notch higher by introducing industry-relevant programmes to students.

Moving forward, the college has been invited by the Ministry of Education to upgrade to be a university college soon, where it will be known as First City University College.

Not only that, a new phase comprising state-of-the art facilities, sports amenities and well-equipped hostels are also expected to be completed by next year.

The college currently conducts eight franchised 3+0 programmes of its partners – Anglia Ruskin University, Nottingham Trent University and Sheffield Hallam University – in design, engineering, computing or software engineering, business management, and accounting and finance.

The outstanding achievements of KBU graduates in the corporate environment symbolises the college’s commitment in establishing strong ties with well-known organisations and professional bodies.

The college’s three major schools – School of Design, School of Business, Hospitality & Tourism Management and School of Engineering and Computing – always engage their students through fun learning approaches.

School of Design

KBU’s School of Design cultivates top award-winning designers through its industry-based teaching and learning. The students are constantly exposed to live briefs through competitions such as Packaging Design Project, BROS collaborative project and Ralph Lauren’s The Big Pony Collection.

Besides that, the school is well equipped with facilities such as spacious studio space, advanced computer hardware and software, printing studio, 3D workshops and a range of other equipment.

In recent years, KBU design students have received numerous awards, including Philips Lightover Challenge, International Design Award and Samsung Wonderland Media Award.

School of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management

Students of the School of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management participate in visits to top companies such as Royal Selangor Pewter, Gardenia, Proton and KPMG that give them a glimpse of the corporate world.

The school also organises public lectures delivered by wellknown speakers such as McMillan Woods’ Datuk Raymond Liew and Petra Group’s Datuk Vinod B. Sekhar.

School of Engineering and Computing

KBU’s School of Engineering and Computing is a strong advocate of fun learning activities and state-of-the-art equipment. Rather than focusing on theories and text book learning, the school engages its students in more hands-on training and activities to prepare them for the competitive job market.

Other than that, the school also engages with leading industry players to train and keep students informed with current trends and innovation.

The school is also known as the first private college in South-East Asia to purchase the sophisticated electronic design automation (EDA) software Mentor Graphics for teaching chipset design.

It is also the first and only private college to collaborate with IBM Malaysia on mainframe computing technology.
