Summer loving watches
Days of sailboats and sun-soaked days are reflected on the latest Swatch collection.
IT’S summer and it’s time to play! At least, that’s the message Swatch seems to be throwing out with its latest Spring-Summer Collection 2015.
The brand new ranges capture the fun of the season, both on the watch dials and on the straps, with holiday themes such as Spring Breeze and Playroom.
Pastel shades reign on the feminine Spring Breeze range which gives just that right touch of luxury, especially on pieces such as TriLooper and Double Me with their skinny-dipping, barely-there leather straps. If you prefer chunkier versions, look for models such as Anisette and Blue Posh that come in textured circles and squares.
The very masculine and bold Gran Turismo range offers classic looks with a metallic twist, such as Golden Friend, while brooding and powerful lines are seen on Destination Madrid and Doppiogiro.
Red, White & Blue may be the colours of the Malaysian flag, but it’s also one of the ranges that give a nod to things associated with sailing. Mariniere and Porticciolo come in traditional seafarers garb with striped centres while coastal countries of Sweden, the United States, Canada, Thailand, Great Britain and Greece are represented on Flagtime.
Rainy days and Mondays may get you down, but Swatch is set to cheer you up In The Playroom where it’s game time every time. Think Monopoly, Scrabble and Mikado, and you’ve got the gist of Money Honey, Love Game and Stick it. Shocking Dangerous Lies is bound to create a buzz with its feisty attitude.
Pet lovers can indulge in My Pet & Me in which British style and a bold bowtie make Andy Baby truly adorable. The Wild Totem was designed by Finnish artist Tarik Arnautovic, and expresses the hip and hipster sides of our animal pals, while stacked on top of one another in appealing colours and shapes.
The Surfing The Wave range, which will be out later in April, is all about the California lifestyle and long days spent in saltwater. Berry-Tini are ready for wet and wild action with jewel tones that complement the hues of the big blue. Florida Breeze and Miami Peach are all about sunbathing and sipping fruity cocktails.
And, of course, Mediterranean Dolce Vita celebrates life, sustenance and fine dining – mod- els such as Tomatella, Onione, Vitamine Boost and Sardina bring nourishment in a trendy way and tantalise the taste buds while serving a vibrant sight for sore eyes.
