1) Lighten up a dark cupboard. That awkward cupboard in the corner of the kitchen where you store your once-a-year pots can appear to harbour an ovenware monster. If you line it with tinfoil and use a small torch, you’ll be able to spot everything easily as the tinfoil reflects the light.
2) Clean your silver. That pretty necklace that’s going dull or the beautiful ornament you inherited that has all that detail that’s hard to clean – you can clean both with a non-toxic electrochemical dip fuelled by tinfoil. Simply put a layer of foil on the bottom of a pan, add a handful of baking soda and salt, then boil a kettle of water and pour onto mixture, stir and settle your silver into the pot. Leave up to five minutes until the silver is clean, then rinse in cold water and wipe dry.
3) Clean greasy dishes. When you’ve used tinfoil and it’s still clean, don’t throw it away but store it in a jar. Then when you roast a chicken or create some other messy dinner in a glass, cast iron or Pyrex pot, crumple up the foil and use it as a scrubber.
