SONGKET Restaurant specialises in traditional Malay cuisine and offers a unique and authentic dining experience in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Having gained a reputation for serving up truly authentic dishes, Songket has received many accolades and awards, including the Time Out KL Food Award, the Best Malay Cuisine Award by Tourism Malaysia, and most recently, the Platinum Award by the Kuala Lumpur Mayor's Tourism Awards for Best Home Grown Restaurant.

With a team that has been serving up the highest quality in Malay cuisine for nine years, Songket Restaurant offers a wealth of local traditional dishes prepared with the freshest of ingredients.

While diners are familiar with more recognisable dishes such as nasi lemak, rendang, otakotak and satay, Songket also offers local dishes that are a little harder to find in an urban environment.

The appetisers include local favourites such as popiah goreng, a crispy golden spring roll stuffed with vegetables and otak-otak, a traditional steamed seafood mousse wrapped in banana leaf.

There are also a number of traditional Malay soups to choose from.

For the unique experience of preparing your own food, the “Live Satay” dish is a must try.

Diners get the opportunity to try their hand at grilling a portion of satay on a mini charcoal grill placed at the centre of the dining table.

For seafood lovers, Songket serves a variety of fish, prawns and squid that is prepared in various cooking styles, such as Ikan Jenahak Sambal Hijau and Rusuk Panggang served with Pegedil and accompanied by a spicy sweet soy sauce and tamarind dip.

Together with the authentically traditional Malay flavours of Songket, patrons are entertained by dancers in a lively and colourful 30-minute cultural performance at 8.30pm daily, Mondays to Saturdays.

Songket Restaurant is located at 29, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, and operates Mondays to Fridays from noon to 3pm and 6pm to 11pm. It opens from 5pm to 11pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. For reservations, call 03-2161 3331 or call or message 012-366 0111 (Tony) / 012-260 7769 (Firdaus).
