Manipal International University, Nilai, a member of the Manipal Group, offers a unique Centre for Foundation and Language Studies, which provides students with a strong platform to kick-start their undergraduate programme.
Based on career preferences, students generally enter a Foundation Programme after completing their SPM or O-Levels.
Programmes are conducted by experienced lecturers who provide the basic foundation to qualify for admission to the selected undergraduate programme – be it Engineering, Science or Business Studies – within a year.
Students can also join an English enhancement course aimed at strengthening their ability to excel at international English Language Proficiency tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.
There is also a separate English Enhancement Programme, which focuses solely on improving the students’ English.
Engineering
A report released by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2007 predicted that the country needs more than 222,000 graduate engineers by 2020 to meet the growing demand in the industry and public sector.
Students who complete the Foundation Programme can enrol in one of seven undergraduate Engineering programmes at MIU: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering (Communication), Mechanical Engineering or BSc Computer Science.
