Smooth transition

TRINITY College was founded in 1870 based on the model of the English Colleges of Oxford and Cambridge.

Trinity College Foundation Studies (TCFS) was established in 1989 to provide an academically excellent, preparatory pathway for talented international students seeking entry to the University of Melbourne.

TCFS is a rigorous and challenging academic programme taught by leading academics. It is designed in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and supervised by the University’s Academic Board.

It offers students guaranteed entry into the University of Melbourne undergraduate courses, provided they achieve the required scores.

“Teachers at Trinity are very passionate about what they teach,” said Bachelor of Science student Ng Zi En of the February Main programme 2014.

“I was surprised by how willing they were to help us achieve our academic goals. They encouraged us to push ourselves out of our comfort zone and continue to strive for academic excellence.”

A comprehensive student support programme includes personal mentoring for every student, careful monitoring of students and attendance, and ready access to advice and help. This provides a smooth transition for students living away from home for the first time.

“My mentor – my psychology teacher – gave me excellent advice. This has helped me grow as a person,” said Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) graduate Nurul Athirah Yelitza Ahmad of February Main programme 2014, now studying at the University of Melbourne.

The unique core curriculum is specifically devoted to developing intellectual breadth. The university envi- ronment requires students to speak in front of others, work in groups, develop an argument, be creative, constructive, analytical and critical.

The academic skills and critical thinking outcomes of the core curriculum give students the confidence and ability to achieve success.
