Unique boarding experience

- StarSpecial.

MARLBOROUGH College Malaysia is the first British boarding and day school in Malaysia. Located at a beautiful 90-acre campus in Iskandar, it offers a preparatory school for pupils aged between four and 13, and a senior school for pupils aged 13 to 18.

What sets the college apart is the fact that it is not a franchise but a genuine expansion of Marlborough College UK. This enables a similar curriculum to the one in Britain, and pupils have the opportunity to experience one of the exchange programmes held each year.

Each boarding house in the college has a unique character. One of its attractive features is the depth of camaraderie that exists in the five boarding houses in Marlborough College Malaysia.

The girls’ junior boarding house, Iskandar, has a spacious common room with table tennis, a pool table, two computers, a printer, sofas and a television. The common room is located in the centre of the boarding house.

The housemistress, dame and resident house tutor oversee pupils within the boarding house. They also assist new pupils within the first few weeks of boarding. The structured programme of activities each evening makes it easy for new pupils to feel comfortable almost immediately, while also maintaining personal space.

Activities are thoughtfully planned to ensure that the pupils make full use of their time. Once they are back in the House after lessons, ample time is given for them to settle down for their prep. This is followed by supper and another round of prep and quiet reading.

The Housemistress and a team of tutors are also on hand for those who need additional help.

It is Marlborough’s firm belief that boarding pupils tend to be better prepared for university life. Not only are they more independent, they are also less shy and are better equipped with skills needed to succeed in life.
