Nurturing creative young minds
ASIA Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) students achieved great success at the E-Genting Bug Hunt (EGBH) 2014 and E-Genting Programming Competition (EGPC) 2014 by bagging the top three awards for the Bug Hunt, as well as two Merit Awards for the Programming Competition.
The students walked away with over RM6,000 in cash prizes. The prize presentation ceremony was held on Jan 31 at Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur.
The competitions saw participation from Malaysian public and private universities. Six APU students took part in the Programming Competition and three students participated in the Bug Hunt.
Among the 131 participants who attended the event, two APU students, Seyed Mohammad Daneshvar and Morrison Kho CuiZhi, stood out as the Merit Award winners. They won RM200 each based on their outstanding performance at the written competition held on Nov 8 last year.
Meanwhile, all three APU participants who took part in the Bug Hunt emerged as the top three winners based on their brilliant software testing documents, which were produced at Wisma Genting on Dec 5 last year.
The winners are Lee Chia Ping, Tan Wai Loong and Lai Wen Leong, who are recent Software Engineering graduates of APU.
Apart from the cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively, the winners were also entitled to a job offer from E-Genting.
“The students have performed at a high technical level, a testament of the education they received at APU via an in-depth knowledge transfer process from the academicians based on an industry-relevant curriculum.
“The potential that these IT-based students have is apparent as they are constantly hired by employers such as Genting Berhad,” said APU Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology (FECT) dean Prof Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam.
