Make a mark through art

-

DASEIN Academy of Art was established in 1996 by a team of avid educators and professionals in the art and design industry. It aspires to groom a future generation dedicated to the creative and cultural development for personal enrichment.

Dasein has developed a unique set of teaching principles called edu-mentoring.

The academy incorporates two key elements into its syllabus for developing young minds – teaching and mentoring – to provide a more personalised approach for each teaching learning relationship. It is through guidance in self-discovery that a student’s self-value can be unearthed.

As one of the top art and design schools in Malaysia, Dasein Academy of Art is recognised for producing professional talent across multiple creative disciplines.

Industry partners such as established and emerging companies, artists and designers continually seek to hire, mentor and collaborate with Daisen students and graduates.

Dasein graduates have consistently achieved a 100% employment rate within three months of graduation.

Last year, Dasein hosted a programme on urban landscapes at the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery. Titled “Neighbour Programme”, it was a collaborative project initiated by Dasein with the aim of building a network with art and design institutions from around the South-East Asian region.

The project was recently joined by Lasalle College of the Arts of Singapore, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi of Thailand and Binus University of Indonesia.

“Neighbour Programme” plays an important role in helping to shape and document South-East Asian culture through networking and education. It is a network set to encourage closer ties, where South-East Asian art and design institutions can connect and create opportunities for academic affiliations, cross-cultural events, guest lecturer visits, school visits, internship opportunities and employment opportunities.

It can help set up “research-as-practice” projects on South-East Asia’s visual cultures, initiate exchange programmes or workshops where art and design South-East Asian students and staff can collaborate in research projects and an archive for art and design education initiatives.

Dasein Academy of Art offers fulltime diploma courses in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Art, Animation, Digital Media and Mass Communication.
