First step to a law degree
ADVANCE Tertiary College (ATC) has positioned itself as the premier institution to study law. School-leavers after Form Five can join ATC to complete their entire journey in becoming a lawyer.
In its 27 years since inception, ATC has become the largest independent law school in the Asian region with two campuses in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang), one in Singapore and a joint venture partnership in Hong Kong, with the publicly funded Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Its Business School has also grown to offer a variety of Certificate and Diploma programmes.
Building foundations with A-Levels The first step into the legal world is obtaining a pre-tertiary qualification.
This can be an STPM qualification, IB, or other pre-university qualifications with the most popular being the UK A-Levels.
ATC offers the Cambridge International Examinations A-Levels to students progressing into the LLB programme or other university in other disciplines.
ATC invites prospective students to take advantage of the Free Trial Class programme, where they can attend a class for up to two weeks to decide if the programme suits them and the subjects they would like to register for.
Students can gain perspective on a particular subject offered before making their decision.
The programme is run at ATC on an AS or Advance-level format over one and a half years as prescribed by the Higher Education Ministry.
ATC has assembled an excellent team of lecturers to guide students through the variety of subjects at ATC.
Best of University of London’s LLB at ATC
ATC has been awarded a fourstar ranking by the Education Ministry, boasting the largest full time faculty of any private law school in the country.
Dr Danny Choong, principal and deputy chief executive officer of ATC, accredits ATC’s success to this.
“It is powered by the amazing faculty of lecturers who form the pillars on which ATC stands,” he said.
ATC’s famous Intensive Revision Programme is a 10-week programme that focuses on exam technique and discussion of the most recent past-year exam papers to give the students an idea on how to tackle the examinations.
The notes given during this revision programme coupled with the extensive notes given throughout the academic year never fail to produce the best in the students.
ATC students achieved two out of only three First Class Honours degrees awarded worldwide last year for the LLB and 34 Second Class Upper degrees, the most from any single institution for the University of London International Programmes worldwide.
With thousands of graduates currently involved in the legal arena, the corporate sector and media industries, an ATC graduate is highly employable locally and internationally.
ATC was also one of only five institutions worldwide recognised for excellence in conjunction with the University of London’s 150th year anniversary celebrations. ATC is now one of the nine affiliate centres of University of London worldwide for the law programme.
All Malaysian school-leavers are encouraged to take advantage of ATC’s 28th year anniversary scholarship offer. The April 2015 intake is in progress.
