Innovative arrangement
AS one of the pioneer institutions of higher learning in Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR University College) has been the institution of choice due to its stellar reputation in high academic standards and quality for over four decades.
It is proud to introduce its Dual Award programmes in collaboration with four partner universities, whereby three are based in the United Kingdom – Coventry University, Sheffield Hallam University and University of Salford; and Campbell University in the United States.
This innovative arrangement echoes the ethos of TAR University College in providing high-quality education that is accessible to all Malaysians.
The Dual Award collaboration is put together in view of the need to possess globally recognised qualifications that will allow for greater international mobility in charting one’s career.
Combining TAR University College’s strength in its industry-driven curriculum and the academic prowess of its renowned partner universities in the UK and the US, students will benefit from an international education that prepares them to take their place in global society.
Above all, this collaborative arrangement provides an opportunity to earn an international qualification in addition to a bachelor honours degree from TAR University College.
Each partner university has entered into strategic partnership with TAR University College in distinctive areas of studies. Coventry University focuses mainly on finance and management disciplines in the Dual Award collaboration.
The partnership with University of Salford, having its campus at MediaCityUK with a world-class creative community, focuses in the areas of mass communication and creative art. Sheffield Hallam University has a more diverse range of concentrations. As for Campbell University, students have the choice of studying in disciplines such as Applied Sciences, ICT and Microelectronics.
The Dual Award arrangement provides an option to study abroad at the partner universities. The one semester abroad will allow TAR University College students to experience learning in an interculturally diverse environment and be exposed to global trends.
The pioneer group of students in the Dual Award programmes who opted to study one semester abroad left for the UK in January.
Among them was Loo Dickson@Loo Fandie, who is a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) student at TAR University College.
For this TAR University College book prize winner, the decision to undertake the Dual Award programme with study abroad option is easy to make as the additional degree will give him an edge in his career.
Tee Yee Yean, a Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Human Resource Management student, is eager to go for the Dual Award with study abroad option as the exposure to different cultures is important to prepare her for a career in the field of human resources.
Sun Shin Tat, a Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Hons) in Multimedia Design student, feels the Dual Award arrangement will give him the opportunity to exchange views with foreign students and stimulate creativity.
