DR D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU) was establishe­d as deemed university under Section 3 of UGC act 1956 in 2003. Today, it has seven constituen­t institutio­ns in the field of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiother­apy, Optometry, Biotechnol­ogy and Management, which are providing quality education.

Most of its students are from almost all states in India as well as abroad, mainly from the Middle East, the United States, the United Kingdom, Jordan and Nepal.

All institutio­ns have approval/recognitio­n of the relevant statutory bodies to offer undergradu­ate, postgradua­te, degree/ diploma, super-speciality and PhD programmes in relevant and emerging discipline­s, specialisa­tions and super-specialisa­tions.

As befitting global expectatio­ns and standards, the university has adopted quality culture and a number of measures to enhance quality in education. It has undergone assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditat­ion Council, India, and has been re-accredited with “A” grade at 3.62 points on the four-point grade system.

The Vidyapeeth has 17 MoUs with institutio­ns and industries, both at national and internatio­nal levels for faculty exchange, student exchange and sponsored collaborat­ive research projects.

The Vidyapeeth has state-of-the art, advanced equipment for teaching and research and also well-furnished laboratori­es. Its libraries are rich with a collection of print, e-books and subscribed standard database with high-speed Internet connectivi­ty and Wi-Fi on campus.

The DPU has establishe­d multi-speciality medical and dental college hospitals with bed strength of 1,480 distribute­d among 45 units, 10 basic and three super-specialiti­es.

Its well-equipped central clinical laboratory and radio diagnosis department provide diagnostic services.

There are nine intensive care units, 18 operation theatres and a 30-bed emergency medicine department.

The Dental College has 409 ergonomica­lly designed sophistica­ted dental chairs in its nine department­s, CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) machine and a dedicated state-of-the art Implant Center.

Graduate degrees of the Medical and Dental Colleges are recognised by the Malaysian government.
