Relieving joint woes
COLIN Sta Maria was a star hockey player back in the 1980s. Now in his 50s, Sta Maria has since retired. Probably due to his rigorous days in competition, Sta Maria started experiencing knee problems a few years ago. Not used to staying sedentary, he felt frustrated after trying a myriad of joint remedies but to no avail.
Contrary to popular belief, joint problems do not just happen because the cartilage layer in the joints wears out, but primarily because a type of joint ageing enzyme, which exists in all our joints (Matrix Metalloproteinases or MMPs), becomes increased usually with age coupled with genetic influence.
When the body begins producing more of these enzymes than necessary, the joints break down faster than they can rebuild and lose functionality over time.
Not just old people experience this. Young folks are also affected, as can be seen by the number of younger people with joint problems.
The joint ageing enzymes also cause the immune system to attack its own, leading to inflamed, swollen and painful joints. Prolonged inflammation eventually leads to formation of bone spurs.
Natural therapies research uncovered an unlikely remedy from New Zealand.
First produced in the 1970s, this New Zealand green-lipped mussel joint product called Biolane has been branded as much a miracle as a sham – although many people were experiencing its benefits, science could not exactly elucidate its mechanism of action.
Today, the branded, clinically proven active ingredient, Biolane, has now been in the global market for over 30 years.
With the advent of biotechnology, scientists discovered that Biolane turned out to be a natural joint ageing enzyme inhibitor.
It also aids in joint repair besides helping damaged joint surfaces, such as bone spurs.
Biolane also offers antiinflammatory, antioxidant and marine mineral healing actions.
Although there is no cure for arthritis, it is possible to control the condition. Biolane offers safe and viable means to preserve joint functionality for longer periods.
Patients who have not found optimal relief should give Biolane a try.
However, take note that only patented Biolane has been clinically proven to work as it uses a special time temperature technology to preserve the natural activity of the mussels harvested at its prime.
Biolane has a 70% success rate. However, patients will need to undergo a treatment course of at least three months at the right dose. As Biolane is not a painkiller, they may still need to take their painkillers initially before its benefits kick in.
The advantage of Biolane is its stomach-protecting properties when taken together with painkillers. With a research history of 40 years, Biolane is probably one of the most enduring joint products in the world today.
In 2005, the Australian Centre for Complementary Research and Education (ACCMER) awarded Biolane the Ideal Anti-Arthritic Agent accolade. Biolane is used by medical prescribers in over 25 countries worldwide and is available in Malaysia.
After Sta Maria took Biolane regularly for three months, he discovered he could engage in sports and still function the next day.
He has even been able to jog three times a week; before taking Biolane, he had to rest at least three weeks before attempting one sport outing.
