The Kilcher family owns a 240ha homestead in Alaska, and for four long generations, they have lived off the land in a bare- minimum lifestyle. Otto Kilcher, the family’s cattleman, believes that you have to accept whatever life has to offer, and his belief has continued to inspire his family through hardship. For the Kilchers, it’s mainly about survival. That’s why they’ve come up with ingenious methods to recycle and make do with anything they can scavenge. Now that’s one resourceful family!
