A smooth transition

-

GETTING accepted to college is an achievement in itself, but a degree isn’t the only thing a college student is going to eventually work at receiving. Socialising becomes an important element in this time and generation.

At ATC College, new students of courses of all levels and fields go through the Orientation Day – dedicated to assisting commencing students achieve a smooth transition into college life.

The 2015 Orientation was held at the Olympic Hotel, KL, on June 26. A total of 150 students took part in the event.

Students were welcomed by ATC College KE ( Ketua Eksekutif) and introduced to the academic, administrative and management members. A quiz session followed.

An ice- breaking session was next. “What’s Your Worth?” involved coloured papers possessing monetary value.

Students scrambled around under the guidance of School Business and Management head Seva Kumar to add their values with each other. This inspired students to mingle as well as foster a sense of community and reduced stress.

ATC’s Annual Scavenger Hunt was next on the list. This exciting activity required mental and physical determination and teamwork.

Student Affairs head Inderjeet Singh says, “New students are often hesitant to approach staff members for academic and emotional issues, hindering their integration and adjustment into college life.

Building on existing orientation activities, we organised activities that focused on giving the students all the support they need while strengthening the bonds of fellowship and a sense of belonging.”

ATC is also one of only five institutions worldwide recognised for excellence in conjunction with the University of London’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

The college strives to produce graduates that will not only surpass academic goals, but also be a beacon of hope for the community.

ATC has become the largest independent law school in the Asian region with two campuses in Malaysia ( Kuala Lumpur and Penang), one in Singapore and a joint venture partnership in Hong Kong with the publicly funded Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

As an educational institution, ATC emphasises annual events such as the Orientation Day. The college understands the need to boost academic success and social integration for new students that seek out a place where they can bloom academically as well as a college life they will have fond memories of.
