An essential accessory for life underwater

-

OrIS, a brand synonymous with diving, introduces three dive timepieces to watch out for this year.

First is the new Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph.

This functional diver’s watch follows the acclaimed Aquis Depth Gauge, which solved the problem of how to incorporate a depth gauge into a mechanical watch with an inlet in the crystal at 12 o’clock.

The new timepiece houses Oris’s automatic calibre 774, which powers a chronograph function and a date window at 6 o’clock.

The heavy- duty watch has a multi- piece 48mm stainless steel case while its screw- in crown is protected from accidental knocks by a crown- protection system, and its tough sapphire crystal glass is 4mm thick – twice as thick as an average top glass.

The watch has a black dial with applied indices and nickel hands filled with white Super- LumiNova to boost underwater legibility.

The watch comes with a black rubber strap fitted with Oris’s clever quick adjustment sliding- sledge folding clasp system, enabling the wearer to adjust the strap or bracelet without taking the watch off.

This is certainly a unique diver’s watch designed for life underwater.

The next timepiece to look out for is the new Oris Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV.

Named after the brand’s longtime brand ambassador and record- breaking free diver Carlos Coste, this highly functional diver’s timepiece was made with freediving in mind which is an extreme sport that requires the diver to hold their breath for several minutes and to be fearless enough to push themselves to the limit.

In 2003, Coste became the first person to break the 100m barrier in the free immersion category.

In 2010 he set a new Guinness World record by swimming 150 metres through Dos Ojos, a vast underwater cave network in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico, on a single breath.

Impressively, he can hold his breath for seven and a half minutes, earning him the nickname “El Acuaman Criollo” ( which roughly translates as ‘ the natural waterman’) in his native Venezuela.

Finally, the final watch to be unveiled is the Oris Aquis Small Second, Date.

It is equipped with a stainless steel case, an unidirectional revolving top ring with ceramic inlay, crown protection and small second display.

It’s the perfect partner for your toughest plans but at the same time sets a real style statement.

Water resistant up to 50 bar, it functions on automatic winding, bi- directionally rotating red rotor and has a power reserve of up to 38 hours.

Other timepieces to note is the Oris Aquis Date Orange with its striking orange rubber strap and the Oris Aquis Date in sleek stainless steel and black rubber straps.
