What makes krill oil so unique?

-

Better absorption

Both krill oil and fish oil contain omega- 3 EPAs and DHAs.

Omega- 3s are either bound to phospholipids or triglycerides. In krill oil, most of the omega- 3 fatty acids are bound to phospholipids that allow them to be water- soluble.

The phospholipid form of krill oil allows EPA and DHA to be taken up directly into cell membranes, dramatically enhancing omega- 3s absorption.

In fish oil, the omega- 3s are bound to triglycerides and must be converted by the body into a more compatible form for cellular absorption.
