Bright future for culinary arts students

-

THE distinctiveness of Malaysian food has given an opportunity for Malaysia to become a world culinary tourism destination.

The diverse foods is a big draw for tourists, who also visit the country to shop, admire the culture and have a good time.

The global retail sale of Malaysian food products is expected to expand 4.8% to US$ 6.4 trillion ( RM27.32 trillion) by 2020. Looking at the nature of the hospitality industry, the emergence of culinary tourism has seen rapid growth.

There will be a greater demand for experienced workers and professional services in hotels, food service and catering. More celebrity chefs will be created. In line with the high demand and promising future in this field, Management & Science University ( MSU) is offering degree and diploma levels in Culinary Arts, under its School of Hospitality & Creative Arts ( SHCA).

This programme provides students the opportunity to transform their passion for cooking into a professional skill that will guide them into the lucrative and exciting world of food preparation.

It also will equip students with advanced skills in culinary arts and strong product knowledge as well as the ability to perform and organise food production according to established international standards.

Students will be exposed to state- of- the- art technical skills in kitchen set- up and organisation, food product knowledge, patisserie, sensorial analysis, menu development as well as food and beverage management.

The programme offered along these areas meet the stringent standards set by local or international bodies.

MSU award- winning homegrown programmes are among the best in the region.

These programmes are meticulously crafted to enhance the graduate’s worth.

The university aspires to provide education that will enhance employability of its graduates and at the same time enrich students’ learning experience with ethical and moral values.

The recognition of any institution of higher learning lies on the strength of its programmes and faculty members.

While ensuring the requirements of academically qualified faculty members are being met, MSU further fortifies its brand image through the deployment of international visiting professors and institutional collaborations.

The Global Mobility Programme ( GMP) and Global Leadership Programme ( GLP) at MSU assist students towards enriching their academic pursuits at the international level.

The opportunity will further enrich the student’s development and enhance their standings for a better career prospect.
